GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674; “GS Yuasa”) has been selected as the prospective contracting company for the naming rights (commonly used name rights) of Umekoji Park in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, following a public solicitation by the City of Kyoto.
As a result, the park is expected to be referred to as “GS Yuasa Umekoji Park.” GS Yuasa will enter into an agreement with the City of Kyoto following consultations and then begin using the name.
Umekoji Park opened in 1995 as “a place for citizens to relax.” Located in the heart of the city, it is an urban park where people can enjoy nature and flowers and unwind, together with cultural and educational facilities such as Kyoto Aquarium and the Kyoto Railway Museum. Additionally, it serves as an evacuation site for residents during disasters.
GS Yuasa provided a lithium-ion batteries that power the park’s tram in 2014. Building on the trust we have cultivated for more than ten years, as a company headquartered in Kyoto, we will work together with the community to make Umekoji Park, a cherished place of relaxation, even better. We will contribute to enhancing the park’s appeal so that, ten years from now, it will be an even prouder destination than it is today.
