GS Yuasa Battery to Launch Renewed ECO.R EC High-performance Battery Series for Private-Use Passenger Car
September 19, 2024
GS Yuasa Corporation
GS Yuasa Battery Ltd. (“GS Yuasa”), a GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674) group company, announced a renewed sales launch for the ‘ECO.R EC’ series (the “Series”), which integrates the high-performance batteries ‘ECO.R HIGH CLASS’ and ‘ECO.R STANDARD’, for private-use passenger cars, in October 2024.
ECO.R, the predecessor of the Series, was the first environmentally friendly battery in the automotive battery industry, which actively adopted recycled materials in 2001. Also, as early as in 2007, it was released as a battery compatible with charge control vehicles.
In this renewal, the package design will be unified as the ECO.R series. This enhances the brand image of the ECO.R series, the core of GS Yuasa's automotive battery products.
GS Yuasa will continue to leverage its technological strengths to respond to the expectations and demand for automotive batteries, which are changing with the times, and contribute to safe and secure car life.
Features of ECO.R EC series
Inheriting the features from the past, these products are long-lasting products manufactured in green procurement and environmentally friendly factories.
1. 130% quick charge performance*1
Quick recharging in a short time. Compatible with charge-controlled vehicles.
2. 200% sulfation resistance*2
Sulfation phenomenon*3, which is one of the causes of battery deterioration, is suppressed.
3. High temperature endurance performance of 130%*2
Battery degradation due to use in high-temperature environments is suppressed.
4. Environmentally friendly design
Recycled resin is used for the lid and battery compartment.
Adoption of semi-flat liquid plug
A semi-flat liquid plug is used to prevent rainwater, etc. from penetrating through the top surface of the battery.
(1) to (4) are continued from the previous models, and (5) is an additional feature added in this renewal.
1 Comparison between our standard 40B19 type and EC-40B19 type. Not actual driving.
2 Comparison between ECT-60B24 type and EC-70B24 type. GS Yuasa's own test, not actual driving.
3 A phenomenon in which lead sulfate, a discharge product, crystallizes, making the charging reaction impossible and making it difficult to extract electricity.
This phenomenon is more likely to occur when the battery is not fully charged for a long period of time due to light driving, or when the vehicle is used infrequently and remains discharged for a long period of time.
