Honored with the METI's Industrial Standardization Award 2024

GS Yuasa Corporation
An employee of GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674) received the Industrial Standardization Award 2024 from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.
This award is presented by METI to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the development, dissemination, and promotion of international standards and Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), and have rendered distinguished services in market creation and solving social issues through the use of these standards, and to individuals who are expected to continue to play a leading role in these activities in the future.
The award winner from GS Yuasa has participated in discussions at international conferences since 2013 and advanced the Japan-led discussions as the international chief of IEC TC 9 (Electrical equipment and systems for railways) / PT 62928 (Onboard lithium-ion traction batteries) with the aim of promoting the international standardization of batteries for driving railway vehicles, where Japan has a significant advantage, and contributed to the publication of IEC 62928 "Performance and Safety Standard for Lithium-ion Traction Batteries" in 2017.
He was also appointed as the project leader of IEC/TC 9/PT 62973-5 (Batteries for Auxiliary Power Supply Systems - Part 5: Lithium-ion batteries) in 2019 and issued IEC 62973-5 "Batteries for Auxiliary Power Supply Systems - Part 5: Lithium-ion Batteries" in 2023. In recognition of these contributions to the overseas market expansion of Japanese products, he received this award.
