Achievement of CO₂ Emission-Reduction Targets under Sustainability-Linked Loan Agreement

GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674; “GS Yuasa”) today announced that it has achieved all annual sustainability performance targets (SPTs) set under the sustainability-linked loan (SLL) agreement concluded in July 2021, and that it has donated the full amount equivalent to the interest benefits gained by meeting the targets to Kyoto City Environmental Fund. As a result of these donations, GS Yuasa was honored as a philanthropic company by the City of Kyoto for FY 2025.

“Scope 2” refers to indirect emissions from use of electricity and heat/steam supplied from other companies.

Under the SLL agreement, GS Yuasa received interest rate benefits depending on the achievement status of annual SPTs, with a first-in-Japan scheme whereby the amount equivalent to those benefits is donated to Kyoto City Environmental Fund. Four assessment opportunities were set, and GS Yuasa achieved all targets, enabling donations each year. The donations are used by the City of Kyoto to promote projects related to environmental conservation awareness and education, reduction of waste and recycling, and measures against global warming.
The GS Yuasa Group will continue to promote efforts to achieve carbon neutrality across the entire supply chain and work to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
