GS Yuasa Battery Ltd.
GS Yuasa Battery Ltd. (“GYB”), a GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674) group company, will launch renewed versions of two EN-type models in its "PRODA TAXI" series, which are batteries designed specifically for taxis, starting in December 2026.
Along with this renewal, the "GR Tech Vent Plug"—jointly developed by incorporating a catalytic device manufactured by W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore)*1, which has been well-received in the "ECO.R ENJ" series—will be adopted for the EN-type models of the "PRODA TAXI" series.

In this renewal, we focused on the expanding market in recent years, where the adoption of EN-type equipped taxi vehicles has progressed to reach approximately 20%*2 of all vehicles. While regular water refilling maintenance is essential due to the high-load usage unique to taxis, such as long operating hours and extended idling, the batteries in many vehicles are installed in hard-to-access locations, such as underneath the luggage space.
To address these operating conditions, we have newly adopted "GR Tech vent plugs" incorporating a catalytic device that significantly reduces electrolyte loss. As a result, this significantly reduces the hassle of water refilling maintenance even for taxi vehicles while achieving a longer service life*3.
GYB will continue to leverage its advanced technological capabilities to meet the evolving expectations and needs of automotive batteries as times change.

Features of PRODA TAXI LN1 and LN2
1. Adoption of the "GR Tech Vent Plug" reduces maintenance and achieves a longer service life.
• During battery charging, hydrogen and oxygen generated by the electrolysis of water are recombined by a catalytic device. Returning to the electrolyte as water droplets, together with the "double-lid structure," achieves even greater reduction in electrolyte loss.
• By reducing electrolyte loss, the electrolyte specific gravity is stabilized, and quick-charge performance is maintained, resulting in a longer lifespan*3.
• Electrolyte loss is reduced by 90% compared to our conventional products*3, and the lifespan index is improved to 114%*3.

2. Safe and Reliable EN-Type Batteries Designed Specifically for Japanese Vehicles
・Secures an ample volume of battery fluid between the maximum and minimum levels to reduce the risk of hazardous fluid depletion.
・Demonstrates superior maintenance-free performance thanks to a "double-lid structure" based on patented technology (Patent No. 4715089).
・Adopts a centralized degassing structure, making it compatible with both cabin-mounted and engine compartment-mounted vehicles.
