GS Yuasa Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6674) together with Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation (TGES) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda), received the New Energy Foundation Chairman's Award at the 2024 New Energy Awards for its lithium-ion battery storage system.

TGES installed the largest-scale *1 lithium-ion battery storage system (20MWh) and solar power generation system (7.1MW) for a domestic business site at Honda's Kumamoto Factory under the energy service model *2
The system charges the storage battery on holidays and other days when the amount of power generated by the solar power generation facility exceeds the power demand, and supplies power from the storage battery during times when the amount of power generated is below the power demand, making efficient use of electricity derived from renewable energy sources on-site.

The project involves the introduction of a large-scale solar power generation system that utilizes Japan's largest industrial storage battery, and was recognized for establishing a new method of controlling the battery. It is also expected that this case will serve as a model for increasing the introduction of energy storage systems for the effective use of renewable energy.
