Commencement of Operations for Renewable Energy-Integrated Storage Batteries at Ene-Seed Nagasaki No. 2 Solar Power Plant
October 27, 2025
SAIBU GAS HOLDINGS CO., LTD.
Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation
GS Yuasa International Ltd.
Ene-Seed Corporation (Ene-Seed), a member of the Saibu Gas Group, commenced operations on October 25 for the storage batteries installed at the Ene-Seed Nagasaki No. 2 Solar Power Plant (the Power Plant). This marks the first operation of renewable energy (RE)-integrated storage batteries within the Saibu Gas Group. At the Power Plant, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (Toshiba) will serve as an aggregator, managing the electricity generated, while GS Yuasa International Ltd. (GS Yuasa) will be responsible for the supply and maintenance of the Energy storage system. This collaboration aims to contribute to the stabilization of revenue and stable operation of the power plant.
The Saibu Gas Group is committed to promoting and expanding renewable energy to realize a carbon-neutral society. As part of this commitment, Ene-Seed has been extensively exploring the introduction of RE-integrated storage battery systems with a view to long-term operation of solar power plants. Moving forward, through the operation of RE-integrated storage battery systems, the group aims to further expand its power business, with an eye toward expanding into the grid-connected storage battery business.*1
Toshiba, acting as an aggregator, will perform a series of operations including power generation forecasting and market price forecasting for the Power Plant, creation of charge/discharge plans for the storage batteries, control of the Power Plant, monetization through market transactions, and balancing operations*2. Leveraging Toshiba's expertise, optimal operation of the storage batteries will maximize the overall operational revenue of the power plant, contributing to revenue stabilization.
GS Yuasa will supply "purely" domestically produced storage batteries and PCS (Power Conditioning Systems) manufactured in-house. These devices will perform charging and discharging based on control commands from the upper-level system. Furthermore, GS Yuasa will continuously monitor the voltage of all battery cells, predict anomalies, and monitor the system status to ensure overall system reliability. In the event of a malfunction, the industry's largest nationwide service network will be utilized to enable early recovery, contributing to the stable operation of the Power Plant through both product reliability and after-sales service.
Following this Power Plant, similar collaborative arrangements will be implemented for four solar power plants in Kitakyushu City (Kitakyushu, Kitakyushu No. 2, Kyonan, Kishi), which are scheduled to commence operations.
The Saibu Gas Group, Toshiba, and GS Yuasa will leverage their respective strengths to promote the further spread and expansion of RE and strive to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
